In a few simple steps you can set the Raspberry Pi with a No-IP Dynamic DNS client, which will keep your External IP address updated with No-IP. Now you could just leave your PC on with the update software running, but that could get expensive on your electric bill. In order for a Dynamic DNS to work, it needs to be able to connect to ‘something’ (like a PC) within your home network to keep the IP address updated. There are many websites offering a Dynamic DNS – I went with from a recommendation. I need a dynamic DNS to log in to my router from outside of the home, as my external IP address changes all of the time.Īs this external IP address is required to access my IP camera, as soon as it changes, the settings in my IP camera app are wrong which means I can’t access it. Kids often stand to benefit from encouragement and incentives to help them keep turning pages. Badges and AchievementsĪs we all know, it’s not always so easy to get kids excited about reading. Unfortunately for fans of Amazon devices, Epic is no longer supported on Kindle or Kindle Fire devices, which is kind of disappointing. You can access it through the web on your computer, through many Chromebooks, on iOS and Android mobile devices (OS 10 and Android 4.2.2 and up) or even on your Apple TV if you have it. The quizzes are in multiple choice format and generally aren’t too strenuous or demanding but can help integrate reading material into your lesson plans or just help get kids thinking about what they’ve read on a deeper level.įinally, Epic is supported on a broad range of devices. We think that this is a pretty useful feature if you’re trying to give your child a deeper exposure to certain topics, as well as homeschooling parents who would like an easier way to integrate Epic into their teaching plans.Īlso interesting for those learning at home, certain books also come with quizzes and assessments that parents can assign or access. If a parent wants to assign certain books to their kids they can by creating a collection and then adding titles to it. Interestingly, if you’re traveling to a place where the internet is spotty, you can also download an unlimited number of books for offline reading and save them to your “offline shelf.” Most content on Epic is capable of being downloaded, which is cool, although some are online only and are marked as such with a purple tag. ![]() You can also select language preferences, if you’d like to explore content in languages other than English, such as Spanish, Chinese, and French, which is pretty useful for multilingual families or for kids learning a second language. As in, if it didn't require a crane or special tooling, it was the operator's problem, not the mechanic's. Not as a mechanic, but the military has a pretty wide definition of what is "operator level" maintenance. ![]() Tank mechanic may be interesting as well - I did a fair amount of work on APC's and engineer vehicles (most of which were old tanks) in the army. I'm definitely going to have to look for Aircraft Mechanic Simulator now, since that is what I do for a living. I saw links to their auto mechanic simulator, but didn't notice the others. I don't see where either of the two things I mention above would be applicable in the other titles, so they are of very little interest to me.now when I drive by that local gas station with a bunch of restoration jobs parked around their service garage, I'm like, "Ain't no dam way I'm leaving my car here overnight for a brake job!" LOL!!! LOL! Boosting the value of my "restoration" project for sale at auction. So I was removing the newer parts from these jobs and swapping them out with my rusted junk. Believe it or not, this game actually taught me a lot! I even repaired a big part on my Dodge hemi engine (the water pump) which prior to this game I would never even attempt! So learning about all the parts in the engine allowed me to pickup a digital code reader and self-diagnose most engine issues I have and I know stuff like, "Oh that part is on the outside of the engine and is just a few bolts to remove." I also replace my own brakes and rotors now.Īs for gaming, I was having some fun in the 2015 version playing a very shady mechanic! I had a nice 69 Camero that I was working on restoring, and I would deliberately take jobs to do things like replace brake pads on cars with parts that would fit on my rusted out Camero. I wanted to actually learn some basic auto mechanics from the game to apply to my own vehicles/repair work. What makes the original (Auto) Mechanic Simulator fun to me are two elements that the other titles will just completely miss. I've seen that they have since spun-off a number of "Mechanic Simulator" related titles: Semi-Truck, Aircraft, Tank, and now Rover and have the latest 2018 version on my Steam Wishlist to pickup the next time it goes on the cheap. I'd like to see how the later contracts are before buying. The first contract was just a tutorial and was very simple, replacing a single damaged wheel. The demo only allows you to work on Sojourner, but there are at least 3 other repair contracts after the tutorial contract. Granted, I do that in the real world too, but that if much more interesting. The taking things apart, troubleshooting the problem & fixing it, that promises to be much more interesting. I've done enough of that in the real world, I'm not particularly enthused doing it in a game too - although at least in the game, the screw heads don't strip out. The tedious part was removing and reinstalling every single screw holding one of Sojourner's wheels on, one at a time. I need to play more before I decide to buy - it could end up being tedious or fun. They had a free demo, so I downloaded that and played a few minutes this morning. I saw something else that looked interesting on Steam yesterday, Rover Mechanic Simulator. Unfortunately, SWTOR uses the same down time for all servers, so I still lose a day when they do maintenance. One gripe - and I should've actually checked first rather than assume - I picked a European server because I work 2nd shift and most other MMO's I've played used different maintenance times for their European servers instead of ~9 - 11am EST, which wipes all my game time for a day. Not even finished leveling, so having to redo everything hasn't been a problem yet, but I can see they've done it a bunch in the past. I'm enjoying it, but it mostly feels like a single player game that happens to have other people running around. Fast forward to January, and I was getting a little tired of just KSP, and missed playing an MMO since Wildstar shut down so I got SWTOR. I enjoyed Star Wars: Galaxies but when it closed & SWTOR came out, it didn't impress me. I think after the third or fourth round they nerfed one of my son's favorite PvP characters and it just made him walk away. I got tired of having to retool, retrain, and relearn my characters everytime they decided to do a major update. I played SWTOR online for like a couple years. 3/24/2023 0 Comments Marcus gunn pupil![]() ^ Dente, Christopher Gurwood, Andrew (10 September 1999).Eccles Health Sciences Library, University of Utah. The near response in tonic pupils is slow and prolonged. The near response in AR pupils is brisk and immediate. ![]() In the 1950s, Loewenfeld distinguished between the two types of pupils by carefully observing the exact way in which the pupils constrict with near vision. A patient whose pupil “accommodates but does not react” almost always has a tonic pupil, not an AR pupil. When penicillin became widely available in the 1940s, the prevalence of AR pupils (which develop only after decades of untreated infection) decreased dramatically. Adie's tonic pupil is usually associated with a benign peripheral neuropathy ( Adie syndrome), not with syphilis. In the early 20th century, William John Adie described a second type of pupil that could "accommodate but not react". If the patient is allergic to penicillin, they should undergo desensitization and then be treated.Īrgyll Robertson pupils were named after Douglas Argyll Robertson (1837–1909), a Scottish ophthalmologist and surgeon who described the condition in the mid-1860s in the context of neurosyphilis. ![]() ![]() However, because this sign is associated with neurosyphilis, it should be treated with crystalline penicillin 24 mU intravenous per day for 10 to 14 days. There is no definite treatment, but, because syphilis may be an underlying cause, it should be treated. The condition is diagnosed clinically by a physician. It is not known whether AR pupils are any different from the pupils seen in other dorsal midbrain lesions. This uncommon syndrome involves vertical gaze palsy associated with pupils that “accommodate but do not react." The causes of Parinaud syndrome include brain tumors (pinealomas), multiple sclerosis and brainstem infarction.ĭue to the lack of detail in the older literature and the scarcity of AR pupils at the present time, it is not known whether syphilis can cause Parinaud syndrome. Parinaud syndrome Ī third cause of light-near dissociation is Parinaud syndrome, also called dorsal midbrain syndrome. To settle the question of whether the AR pupil is of central or peripheral origin, it will be necessary to perform iris transillumination (or a magnified slit-lamp examination) in a substantial number of patients who have a pupillary light-near dissociation (with and without tonicity of the near reaction), perhaps in many parts of the world. The evidence supports a midbrain cause of the AR pupil, provided one follows Loewenfeld’s definition of the AR pupil as small pupils that react very poorly to light and yet seem to retain a normal pupillary near response that is definitely not tonic. Thompson and Kardon summarize the present view: It is not known whether neurosyphilis itself (infection by Treponema pallidum) can cause tonic pupils, or whether tonic pupils in syphilis simply reflect a coexisting peripheral neuropathy. tonic) that are necessary to distinguish AR pupils from tonic pupils. The older literature on AR pupils did not report the details of pupillary constriction (brisk vs. The exact relationship between syphilis and the two types of pupils ( AR pupils and tonic pupils) is not known at the present time. A lesion in this area would involve efferent pupillary fibres on the dorsal aspect of the Edinger-Westphal nucleus (associated with the response to light) while sparing the fibres associated with the response to near, which lie slightly more ventrally. Research has implicated the rostral midbrain in the vicinity of the cerebral aqueduct of the third ventricle as the most likely region of damage. Studies have failed to demonstrate a focal localising lesion. The pathophysiologic mechanism which produces an Argyll Robertson pupil is unclear, but is believed to be the result of bilateral damage to the pretectal nuclei in the midbrain. Adie's pupil is caused by damage to peripheral pathways to the pupil (parasympathetic neurons in the ciliary ganglion that cause pupillary constriction to bright light and with near vision). The two different types of near response are caused by different underlying disease processes. There is continued interest in the underlying pathophysiology, but the scarcity of cases makes ongoing research difficult. ĪR pupils are extremely uncommon in the developed world. In general, pupils that accommodate but do not react are said to show light-near dissociation (i.e., it is the absence of a miotic reaction to light, both direct and consensual, with the preservation of a miotic reaction to near stimulus (accommodation/convergence). They are a highly specific sign of neurosyphilis however, Argyll Robertson pupils may also be a sign of diabetic neuropathy. Pupillary light reflex and accommodation reflex testsĪrgyll Robertson pupils ( AR pupils) are bilateral small pupils that reduce in size on a near object (i.e., they accommodate), but do not constrict when exposed to bright light (i.e., they do not react). 3/23/2023 0 Comments Efootball pes 2020 metacritic![]() Referees strictness so high it makes Pierluigi Collina look like a Only that, but it frequently came with a yellow card making the Just seems like any slight touch from a slide tackle is a foul.
